What is Paxton AI?

  • Founders: Tanguy Chau & Michael Ulin
  • Launch: 2023
  • Use Cases: Legal research, contract review, document drafting, compliance monitoring
  • Technology: Proprietary Legal Language Models, AI Citator, Boolean Composer

Paxton.ai is an all-in-one AI legal assistant developed for lawyers that combines quick drafting, document analysis, and contextual legal research into a single tool. Lawyers can upload any type of document on Paxton to analyze—contracts, briefs, transcripts—and, in seconds, Paxton will quickly analyze the files, extracting the most salient facts or clauses, print a summary of large text, and even print flags for potential issues. For drafting any type of legal document, such as motions, contracts, memos, and pleadings, Paxton has a legal-domain large language model that supports the inputs of statutes, case law, regulations, and any commentary, which will provide the output its users expect and the citations of actual legal documents. For its AI legal search, lawyers can ask questions in natural language, and its AI risks having lawyers receive the relevant case law and statutes and even validate the precedential value of those documents through its citator. Paxton takes security seriously—SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA compliant; encrypting data at rest and sleek and in transit; and private-deploying, where firms control their data being hosted. Law firms, solo practitioners, etc., use Paxton to spend less time (or reduce the drudgery) on research and document review so lawyers, and not documents, can be strategic in an outcome and client-facing role.
